America's Original Wizard of Oz Theme Park, located on top Beech Mountain in North Carolina, U.S.A. Inspired by author L. Frank Baum.
The Land of Oz is a magical country first introduced in the classic children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (1900).. Oz consists of four vast quadrants, the Gillikin Country in the north, Quadling Country in the south, Munchkin Country in the east and Winkie Country in the west. Each province has its own ruler, but the realm itself has always been ruled by a single monarch.
The Land of Oz was created by L. Frank Baum in his book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and is the setting for most of the "Oz" stories, including those written by Baum's successors. The Sci-Fi Channel miniseries Tin Man takes place in the Outer Zone , which is a futuristic version of the Land of Oz.
The Land of Oz is currently a private property located in the resort town of Beech Mountain, North Carolina, USA.In 1970 it opened as a theme park based on the L. Frank Baum Wizard of Oz books by Carolina Caribbean Corporation under the guidance of Grover Robbins, who had been successful with Tweetsie Railroad, and designed by Jack Pentes.It was fully operational until 1980.

There are two annual events held at the Land of Oz. Journeys With Dorothy take place every Friday in June during Beech Mountain's Family Fun Month, and the three-day Autumn at Oz celebration is held the first weekend in September. So have a heart, have a brain, and have some courage.
The Land of Oz closed after its 1980 operating season and was left to deteriorate. Since 1990, however, its remnants have been secured and restored. The property is now available for special events, and a giant Oz celebration takes place each autumn.
